WHY JAMIE'S RUNNING
Brown County is a great place to live.
But we can do better.
There are plenty of people here who need their elected leaders to understand their problems and work together to make this an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.
That’s exactly what Jamie will do as your State Senator.
MAKING HOUSING MORE AFFORDABLE
House prices here in Brown County have gone up nearly 60% in the last five years, making it hard for young families to afford their first homes and for renters to get by.

Jamie supports building more housing of all sorts to meet the demand. He also believes Wisconsin should do more to help young families by expanding state programs that help first-time home buyers afford a mortgage.
MAKING HEALTHCARE MORE AFFORDABLE
Many families struggle to afford quality healthcare in Brown County.
To help them, Jamie supports accepting federal funds to expand Medicaid, as 40 other states have done. This would save Wisconsin taxpayers $1.6 billion while providing coverage to almost 90,000 people. Making healthcare prices more visible to patients and applying the techniques of lean manufacturing to the healthcare system can also save money and improve quality.
MAKING CHILDCARE MORE AFFORDABLE
Childcare is first and foremost about kids, but it’s also about their parents, who make up much of the state’s workforce. To make sure both our kids and our economy flourish, Wisconsin parents need access to quality, affordable child care.
Accordingly, Jamie supports the Child Care Counts program to stabilize child care providers and the Wisconsin Shares program to help working parents with the cost of child care.
INCREASING WAGES FOR WISCONSIN WORKERS
Jamie knows that a good-paying job is still the best social program. As the former head of the state’s private-sector economic development programs, Jamie worked with Wisconsin businesses to help them expand and create quality jobs.
The state can help increase wages and increase the productivity of Wisconsin workers by training the workforce of the future and building the infrastructure businesses need to thrive. Jamie also opposes state policies that deliberately hold down wages for Wisconsin workers.
IMPROVING OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM
Jamie had a chance to get off to a good start in life because of a quality, affordable education in Wisconsin public schools and the University of Wisconsin. He believes that all our kids today deserve the same chance.

Jamie supports our public schools, technical colleges, and universities, which have seen funding lag inflation at a time of record state surpluses. School districts have often turned to referenda to make up the gap, increasing local property taxes in the process. The state needs to keep up its end of the bargain to hold down property taxes.
At a time of shifting and sometimes declining enrollment, Jamie wants to ensure our education dollars are spent efficiently and all our schools deliver a quality education to their students.
PROTECTING ACCESS TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE
Women deserve access to a full range of healthcare.
Jamie believes that healthcare decisions are best made between a patient and her doctor, without the involvement of her State Senator. While some Brown County Republicans work to outlaw in-vitro fertilization and restrict contraception, Jamie supports preserving and expanding our rights.
CUTTING TAXES FOR WORKING FAMILIES
Too many people in Brown County are working too hard just to get by.

And a record state budget surplus gives us a great opportunity to help them get ahead.
Jamie supports a real tax cut for working families so they can keep more of their own money in their own pockets.
